Siemens and Microsoft Work Together to Drive AI Adoption Across Industries

Microsoft and Siemens are joining forces to introduce the Siemens Industrial Copilot, an innovative generative AI assistant designed to revolutionize human-machine cooperation within the manufacturing sector.
As the first step in this endeavor, the companies are introducing Siemens Industrial Copilot, an AI-powered assistant co-developed to enhance collaboration between humans and machines in manufacturing processes. Furthermore, the integration of Siemens Teamcenter software, designed for product lifecycle management, with Microsoft Teams will facilitate the realization of the industrial metaverse, simplifying virtual collaboration among design engineers, frontline workers, and various other teams within businesses.
Microsoft's Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "With this next generation of AI, we have a unique opportunity to accelerate innovation across the entire industrial sector. We're building on our longstanding collaboration with Siemens and bringing together AI advances across the Microsoft Cloud with Siemens' industrial domain expertise to empower both frontline and knowledge workers with new, AI-powered tools, starting with Siemens Industrial Copilot."
Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens AG, shared the same vision, saying, "Together with Microsoft, our shared vision is to empower customers with the adoption of generative AI. This has the potential to revolutionize the way companies design, develop, manufacture, and operate. Making human-machine collaboration more widely available allows engineers to accelerate code development, increase innovation, and tackle skilled labor shortages."
The Siemens Industrial Copilot promises to drastically reduce the time required for tasks that previously took weeks, such as generating, optimizing, and debugging complex automation code and simulations. It achieves this by integrating automation and process simulation information from Siemens' open digital business platform, Siemens Xcelerator, and enhancing it with Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service. Importantly, customers retain full control over their data, and it is not used for training underlying AI models. This technology is set to significantly boost productivity and efficiency throughout the industrial lifecycle.
Siemens and Microsoft envision these AI copilots benefiting professionals across various sectors, including manufacturing, infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare. Numerous copilots are already in the pipeline for manufacturing applications, spanning industries like automotive, consumer packaged goods, and machine building.
